India: Export Amount of Yarns Fell in September

In September, total export amount of yarns in India was 118 thousand tons, falling by 8%. The total value was 300 million USD. The average export volume was 2.82 USD per kilogram, the latest lowest price in recent years, falling by 4 cents on month-on-month basis and 42 cents on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, rupee was also depreciated by 5% against the dollar.
 
From June to August, import amount of yarns in China doubled. However, in September, Chinese import growth still slowed, although the price of yarns fell. Seasonal insufficient demand is one of reasons. Every September and October is low. 
 
In September, 88 countries imported yarns from India. Among that, China accounted for 95%, increasing by 13% on year-on-year basis; Bangladesh was the second largest importer, accounting for 26% and increasing by 20%; Egypt was the third largest while falling. 
 
In September, export amount of cotton yarns was 99 thousand tons. The total volume was 278 million USD and the average price was 2.82 USD per kilogram, decreasing by 4 cents and 46 cents on year-on-year basis. 
 
Iran, Argentina, Israel, Canada and South Africa had the largest import growth of cotton yarns for India. Their export amount doubled, accounting for 2.3%. In September, India also expanded its new markets, including Bahrain, Paraguay, Salvador, Kenya and Eritrea.
