Drafting plan is a major part of a completer design for a woven fabric. Drafting plan indicates the number of healds shafts which are used to produce design.
Methods of indicating drafting plan: Ruling line, design paper and numbering are used to indicated drafting plan.
Ruling Line Method: Ruling line is method of indicating draft, in which the horizontal lines and vertical lines represent the healds and the warp threads respectively. The marks on the line indicate the healds upon which the respective threads are drawn. It is less used for indicating drafting plan.
Design paper: Design paper in one of the most suitable ways to express drafting plan for a woven fabric. The horizontal spaces represent the healds while the vertical spaces represent warp threads. Marks can also be inserted upon the small squires.
Numbering: Numbering refers to the quantity of threads. The threads are successively drawn on the held to indicate number.
