The process transferring yarn from one spinning bobbin to another suitable package is called as winding. According to the density of the package, winding is classified into precision winding and non precision winding.
Precision winding: Precision winding is the process that produces a very dense package in which maximum amount of yarn is stored in a definite volume when the successive coils of yarn on a package and laid close together and parallel or nearly parallel with each other.
Characteristics of precision winding: Precision winding has a lot of characteristics.
1.Reciprocating motion is used for wounding the package.
2.Patterning or robbing may damage package.

Non precision winding: The package consisting of single thread which is laid on the package at appreciable helix angle and creating large cross one another, definite stability and a less dense package.
Characteristics of non precision winding: Non precision winding produce low density package. The followings are the characteristics of non precision winding:
1.Only one coil is used.
2.Storing minimum yarn.
3.Cross angle carries out winding.
4.Package is soft and less compact.
5.Having high stability.
6.Low density package.
7.Flanged is unnecessary.
8.Unwilling rate is high and process is easier.
