Indian garment industry’s top industry bodies Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) said that India has become the most preferred destination for global brands and stores such as Zara, H & M, TommyHilfiger and Walmart.
AEPC chairman ASakthivel said Indian garment industry in terms of design and materials, has its inherent advantages.
“All the big brands and chain stores are coming to India to purchase. India is the most preferred destination, such as Zara, Gap, H & M, Mango, TommyHilfiger.’s Best shops, such as Walmart, Marks & Spencer and Tesco, both from India purchasing clothing.”
He also said that the Indian textile enterprises, Australia has a huge opportunity. “We are the third largest country garment exports to Australia, the two sides have the potential to further expand the business. Garment exports must take advantage of this, the development of a huge $ 5.61 billion Australian apparel market.”
2012 India’s garment exports to Australia reached about $ 111 million. “Australia is the key countries of the Indian garment exports, as India and Australia ongoing free trade negotiations, while Australian buyers want to reduce their dependence on China.” He said.
